Overview
The Hunter's Sword is a relatively straightforward and safe weapon, but has somewhat short range.
Most of the Sword's PAs can be charged, can prevent flinching or a knock down (super armor) during a PA, and can be canceled most of the time with Guard, the Sword's Weapon Action, at any time before a PA ends.
With Hunter Arts Avenger and its related skills learned, PAs can deal 1.5x damage, restore 10 PP, and grant invincibility (that can be further extended) by releasing the PA right before an enemy attacks.
It is in a Sword Hunter's best interest to know the enemy's attack patterns and Avenger when they can, and use Guard to cancel if an enemy's attacks catches them by surprise. With the Hunter skills that enhance the Sword's Guard, you can follow up with counters.
The Sword exclusively has Auto-Avenge after 1.5 seconds of reaching a charge state with a PA, and after 3 seconds, can Overcharge, doubling its damage, and can stack with Avenger bonuses.

Swing the sword 3 times to hit enemies in front of you. Sword Attack Extra adds the 4th swing and the high-damaging 5th swing if learned. Same Arts Skip and Another Arts Skip allows you to skip to the 3rd and 4th Normal Attacks, respectively.
- 5th swing autoguards from all directions during its animation.
- With Sword Attack Alternation, using Normal Attack after an Avenger instead deals a high-damaging slash that autoguards from all directions.

Guard in front of you with the Sword. You can completely negate attacks (excluding grabs and certain attacks) if you guard the second before an attack hits you. If held longer than a second, you will instead reduce incoming damage by 25% and consume 20 PP.
- If learned, Sword Guard Counter automatically performs a counter, while Sword Guard Counter Plus allows you to follow up with an additional counter if you press Normal Attack.
- Omnidirectional Guard allows you to guard from all directions.
Universal Actions
Action | Power | PP Recovery |

Step Attack | 180 | 9 |
Step Counter | 540 | 15 |
Dash Attack | 280 | 15 |
Dive Attack | 200 | 0 |
- Step Attack/Counter: After a Step, press Normal Attack to perform a kick. If you dodge an enemy's attack with Step, the damage is increased and you instead perform a diagonal slash.
- Though it is preferable to take advantage of Avenger, Step can be helpful for a Sword Hunter facing multi-hit attacks or grab attacks.
- Dash Attack: Perform a wide slash in front of you.
- Dive Attack: Nearly the same across all weapons. Dive deals damage to nearby enemies and restores no PP, and is mainly used to reach the ground faster.
Photon Blast
Focus photons into your sword to greatly increase its size, and perform a cleave followed up with a horizontal slash that explodes shortly after.
- You will remain still upon using the Photon Blast.
- If you hit an enemy on the cleave, a hitstop effect will occur.
- Relatively long start-up time compared to other Photon Blasts, so be wary if you are using this against an enemy that is not in a down or break state.
- Power Notation: Measured in Power, deals 144 x 16 hits (cleave) + 960 (horizontal slash) + 1080 (explosion).

Description | |||
Sword Photon Art. Rise in a vertical slashing, spiral ascent. Charging increases the potency. |
- Performs two vertical slashes while moving upwards that can hit enemies above you and somewhat below you. Can be charged for 0.7 seconds to increase damage and amount of hits.
- If you hit an enemy with the charged attack, a hitstop effect will occur.
- Provides super armor.
- Can be canceled at any time with Weapon Action.
- If charged and hitting an enemy, you cannot Guard for a moment the "grinding" effect occurs.
- Power Notation: If uncharged, the first slash deals 22%, second 28% of noted power. If charged, the first slash deals 6% over 12 hits, and 28% for the second slash.
Twisting Zapper
Icon | Name | Stat | Lv.1 |
---|---|---|---|
Twisting Zapper | Power | 970 | |
PP | 28 | ||
Description | |||
Sword Photon Art. Rise in a horizontal slashing, spiral ascent. Charging increases the number of spins. |
- Performs a spinning attack with the sword multiple times, hitting enemies around you. Can also hit enemies somewhat below you if you are in the air. Can be charged for 0.7 seconds to increase damage, and the amount of hits and spins.
- You can move to the left or right while spinning if you are not locked-on an enemy, otherwise you spin towards them.
- If used initially on the ground and off a ledge, you will begin to fall once the last spin is performed. This is not the case when used in the air.
- Provides super armor.
- Can be canceled before the final hit/spin connects with Weapon Action.
- Power Notation: If uncharged, the first 3 spins deal 12% of noted power, while the final spin deals 20%. If charged, the first 4 spins deal 18%, while the final spin deals 28%.
Calibur Streak
Icon | Name | Stat | Lv.1 |
---|---|---|---|
Calibur Streak | Power | 3500 | |
PP | 35 | ||
Description | |||
Sword Photon Art. Unleash a powerful slash. Can attack up to 3 times by pressing the PA button after the slash. Charging the attacks will increase the number of hits for each of them. |
- Perform an initial slash that can chain with two more slashes that do not consume PP. Can be charged, and after 1.8 seconds, will automatically slash to leave lingering slashes that hit the enemy multiple times, increasing total damage. Each slash can be individually uncharged or charged.
- As it automatically releases from a charged state, Calibur Streak does not utilize Auto-Avenger or Overcharge skills if they are unlocked.
- If you are not locked-on, you can adjust the direction you are attacking in before each slash.
- If performed on the ground, your character will take a small step forward for each slash. This is not done if performed in the air.
- Same Arts Skip Attack - Hunter, if unlocked, is triggered if Calibur Streak is preceded by another PA and is also on the 2nd or 3rd slash of Calibur Streak.
- Does not provide super armor, unlike other Sword PAs.
- Can be canceled while charging with Step or Weapon Action.
- Power Notation: If uncharged, each slash deals 6.6%, 7%, and 10% of noted power, respectively. If charged, each slash deals 10 hits for 3.2%, 3.25%, and 3.55%, respectively.

- You can slightly move to the left or right before the cleave.
- If used in the air, you will slowly move downward.
- Provides super armor, and the cleave autoguards from all directions.
- Can be canceled before you cleave with Weapon Action.
- Power Notation: If uncharged, deal 33% of noted power. If charged, deal 100%.
