This item design was devised by Marie of the PS Vita winning team [Oblivion] in the 2013 ARKS Grand Prix* during the 1st Anniversary Event Phantasy Star Thanksgiving 2013 in Japan, to then be distributed during the ARKS Co-op Festival 2014 Web Panel
The name Apoptosis comes from the process of programmed cell death inside humans, a method the human body uses to get rid of unneeded or abnormal cells.
Going by the description, it sounds like it has the ability to cause its own kind of apoptosis, if it deems its wielder to be unneeded or abnormal.
* The 2013 ARKS Grand Prix was a tournament to determine the fastest ARKS of Phantasy Star Online 2 in Time Attack for both PC & PS Vita.

| 武器迷彩を作成していただくにあたり、シンプルなもの、黒色ベースといった大剣を希望しました。形としては特にイメージがなかったものの、完成に近づくと早く装備して振ってみたいとすごく楽しみにしています。攻撃ヒット時にも水しぶきのようなエフェクトが発生し、とても鮮やかです。ソロプレイの際はまだまだ大剣は手放せないので、バシバシとこの武器迷彩で斬り込んでいきたいですね！
When I asked for the weapon camouflage to be created, I requested a simple greatsword with a black base. I didn't have a particular image of the shape, but as it neared completion, I was really looking forward to equipping it and swinging it. When an attack hits, a splash-like effect occurs, which is very vivid. I still can't let go of my greatsword when playing solo, so I'd like to slash away with this weapon camouflage!* |
