Overview
Color Variants are a unique modifier on weapons that can randomly appear on weapons obtained from defeating enemies in battle. A Color Variant weapon will have a different color than its original variant, and can be identified by the unique rainbow icon on the bottom left of the weapon icon (). Color Variant weapons can also be identified with its unique "Color" indicator on the Item Details menu. Certain Photon Art effects generated from Color Variant weapons will also have unique colors compared to a regular weapon.
Variant colors are currently fixed on each weapon and cannot be changed or transferred to other weapons. Using a Color Variant weapon as the base for a multi-weapon will however transfer the color effects to the other weapon.

Multi-weapon Color Variant Properties
Weapons with a Color Variant modifier that have been turned into Multi-weapons will carry over their Color Variant properties to the secondary weapon, even if the original Color Variant value of the secondary weapon is different. As an example, weapons from the Relik Series have 16 different Color Variant values for each individual weapon, where the Relik Obsidian has a purple value assigned as its Color Variant. Combining the Relik Obsidian and the Relik Dark Rebellion will result in the Relik Dark Rebellion inheriting the purple values from Relik Obsidian, despite the Relik Dark Rebellion having a black Color Value as opposed to purple (Preview).
Similarly, weapons from the Rokz Series where the same Color Values exist only within the same subseries will change the secondary weapon to its colors, even if it does not belong to the same subseries. For example, the Rokz Curva Launcher will have its original purple accents recolored to white if it is Multi-weaponed with the Rokz Sixiemes Daggers, which has a white Color Variant value as it belongs to the Rokz Sixiemes Series (Preview).
