Alters are enemies that alter their appearance depending on the time of day due to the "Daynight Shift" phenomenon, which also affects attributes and overall strength. Affected enemies will have noticeable differences in their characteristics. The result is often a large spike in danger, so take extreme care when encountering these enhanced enemies. A common weakpoint is a yellow eye somewhere on their body.
