Blacknyack is a strategic card game where you must play against the dealer, Nyau, in a game of wits and luck.
Rules
The core rules of Blacknyack are the same as standard blackjack. To win, you must gain a winning hand that beats the dealer's, but whose total value does not exceed 21.
At the start of each round, all players and the dealer are dealt two cards, one face-up and one face-down. Starting from the player on the right and going clockwise, each player chooses whether to HIT (draw a card) or STAY (stop drawing). After the player has decided, play moves to the next player until all players have either Stayed or Busted. During the first turn, the player also has the option to DOUBLE DOWN, allowing them to double their bet and draw one card before Staying for the remainder of the round.
When all players have Stayed or Busted, all face-down cards are revealed and the dealer proceeds to draw. The dealer must continue drawing cards until their hand exceeds 17. After the dealer has stopped drawing, their hand value is compared to the hands of the players. If the dealer's hand exceeds the player's without busting, or the player has busted, the dealer wins. If the dealer busts without the player busting, or the player has a higher winning hand than the dealer, the player wins.
Special Rules
To make things interesting, Blacknyack implements some variations on the core gameplay.
SP Cards
Hidden within the deck are special SP Cards, golden cards with a default face value of 0. When an SP Card is drawn by any player or the dealer, the card is always played face-up. During the turn that an SP Card is drawn, a die with the values 0~2 is rolled; the value on the die is added to all SP Cards in play, as well as any SP Cards drawn later in the round. Any change in the SP Cards' value is permanent until the end of the round. Due to the volatile nature of SP Cards, it is possible to Bust even after ending your turn if another player or Nyau forces the value of your hand to exceed 21 with a die roll.
If Nyau draws an SP Card, he rolls a die with doubled values (0~4).
The Dealer
Nyau is not your average dealer. Being the kind of Musk Cat he is, Nyau tends to bend the rules a little bit.
- Hitting Over 17: Once Nyau has stopped drawing cards after passing 17, there is a chance for him to draw one additional card as long as he hasn't Busted, marked by a "!" symbol appearing next to him.
- SP Card Die: Any time Nyau draws an SP Card, he rolls a purple die with doubled values (0, 2, and 4).
Winning
While the main objective is to beat the dealer's hand without exceeding 21, there are multiple ways to accomplish this, with some winning hands being more valuable than others.
High Card
The most basic winning hand. This means that you have a hand value that is higher than the dealer's but does not exceed 21. Winning with High Card earns you double your bet.
Blacknyack
A Blacknyack occurs when the player or dealer has a hand value of exactly 21. A Blacknyack beats a High Card hand. When the player has a Blacknyack, they will automatically Stay for the remainder of the round. Winning with Blacknyack earns you double your bet plus a flat "BLACKNYACK" bonus of 50 CC.
5 Card
A special win condition that occurs when the player or dealer accumulates five cards in their hand without exceeding 21. A 5 Card beats a Blacknyack. When the player has five cards, they will automatically Stay for the remainder of the round. Winning with 5 Card earns you double your bet plus a flat "5 CARD" bonus, plus a "BLACKNYACK" bonus if applicable.
3 SP
An ultra-rare win condition that occurs if the player or dealer accumulates three SP Cards in their hand without exceeding 21. A 3 SP beats all other hands. When the player has 3 SP Cards, they will automatically Stay for the remainder of the round. Winning with 3 SP earns you double your bet, plus a flat "3 SP" bonus in addition to any other applicable bonuses. The Casino announcer, Deal, will also announce the winning player's name to the room.
Pursuit Bonus
A Pursuit Bonus is a special random event that can trigger at the start of any Blacknyack round. When a Pursuit Bonus occurs, the table will glow yellow and the music will increase in tempo. During a Pursuit Bonus, the player with the highest winning hand at the end of the round earns a large bonus. Note that if Nyau wins, the players will earn nothing.
